Frequently Asked Questions
What is John Barnes Myofascial Release?
JFB Myofascial release is a whole body approach for assessment and treatment of structure, focusing on the fascial system.
Who is John F.Barnes ?
John F. Barnes, PT is the leader and expert in the field of Myofascial Release. He has trained over 100,000 physicians and therapists. His knowledge, experience and ability to teach this remarkable and highly successful technique remains unmatched.
How is JFB Myofascial Release performed?
JFB Myofascial Release Approach* consists of the hands on gentle application of sustained connection into the body’s fascial system, maintaining the essential “time element” to facilitate the return of viscous flow within the fascia. Each session is performed directly on the skin without oils, creams or machinery. This enables the practitioner to assess accurately restrictions within the fascial system and provide the appropriate technique to encourage release of restricted tissue.
Where do fascial restrictions come from?
Trauma, surgery, habitual postures, imbalances in functional mobility, and inflammatory responses create Myofascial restrictions. These restrictions can produce up to 2,000 pounds per square inch of tensile pressure on pain sensitive structures. The pull of the restriction can create a “snag in your fascial web” creating pain awareness far from the site of the restriction.
Why is JFB Myofascial Release an effective treatment for pain relief?
Whether your pain is acute or chronic, the use of JFBMFR allows you to be assessed and treated as an individual. As a whole body approach the practioner encourages your fascial system to open allowing the body’s natural aligned structure to return. It’s our belief all structures of the body lie within the fascial system… to the cellular level.
Is it appropriate for me to have JBFMFR while being treated by other healthcare professionals ie. chiropractic ?
Yes. JFBMFR treatment as an adjunct therapy to your current healthcare can help you reach the best outcomes possible. JFBMFR facilitates an environment within your body allowing the “openness” other disciplines require to be most effective.

... after hearing Tammy Tomich speak, I hired Tammy to treat my mare, She's My Chic (aka Aussie) as I could not get to the bottom of some tightness and pain my horse consistently had. Tammy performed several MFR sessions with Aussie and each time you could see a change happening. One particular session stands out in my mind, when Tammy seemed to be channeling energy from Aussie and there was, at first, some resistance from Aussie's body wanting to let go of whatever she was holding in. As she began to release, Tammy broke out in tears and then a huge sigh and stretch came from Aussie. It was as if she passed whatever she was holding in to Tammy.
Tammy had a very calming effect on my horse...

...June of 2016 my horse Nash was having a lesson of his own when he showed a pronounced limp in his left front shoulder. My first call was to Tammy as I recalled she did " some sort of hands on treatment" of some sort. We quickly set up an appt and I started googling MFR. Nash showed marked improvement after one session! Tammy took the time over several months to treat him and educate my family and I. I now continue the MFR and we just had our first Dressage lesson together! He is a happier healthier horse by treating the physical and emotional sides. Tammy is going to start working on the humans in our family in the near future!

My husband and I have been practicing Tai Chi with Tammy Tomich from 906 Wellness for 10 months. I had been introduced to Tai Chi years ago in a moving meditation class and enjoyed it. I was so excited when I learned Tammy would be offering classes, and jumped at the chance to enroll. I even got my husband to enroll. I was not sure what he would think, but he truly enjoys it. We hate to miss even one session. I have not had a chiropractic adjustment since practicing Tai Chi, it is amazing. My husband suffers from a variety of chronic pains. There are mornings when he wakes in pain and does not want to go practice. He always goes and he always feels much better after class. Tammy is so giving of her knowledge and patient with her students. You will get so much in return physically and spiritually for such a small investment in yourself. I highly recommend Tai Chi with Tammy!
